With great specificity, he focused his audiences on the most precious jewels within the depths of Gauḓīya literature and kīrtana, so as to fortify an understanding of the highest goal and fix one on the path of attaining it. He emphasized that the prayers of conditioned souls, being full of mixed desires and ulterior motives, divert us from attaining that goal.

The cultivation of activities which are meant exclusively for the pleasure of Sri Krsna, or in other words the uninterrupted flow of service to Sri Krsna, performed through all endeavors of the body, mind and speech, and through the expression of various spiritual sentiments (bhavas), which is not covered by jnana (knowledge aimed at impersonal liberation) and karma (reward-seeking activity), and which is devoid of all desires other than the aspiration to bring happiness to Sri Krsna, is called uttama-bhakti, pure devotional service.

Dasa Mula Tattva

By his original nature the jiva is an eternal servant of Krsna. His svarupa-dharma is service to Sri Krsna. Bhagavan’s bewildering energy (maya) punishes those jivas who are bereft of that svarupa- dharma. These jivas are diverted from Sri Krsna, and are concerned with their own happiness. She binds them in the ropes of the three modes of material nature – sattva, rajah and tamah – covers their svarupa with gross and subtle bodies, throws them into the miserable bondage of karma, thus repeatedly causing them to experience happiness and distress in heaven and hell…
